C Vitamin Is One Of The Most Important For Body Function

Since my days in the US Air Force, I have sworn by taking Vitamin C. It is not surprising because the body needs Vitamin C for over 300 different daily functions. It is also said to aid in the lessening or cure for IBS irritable bowel. In fact, the C vitamin has been proved to help protect against heart disease, cancer and other serious illnesses. Without it, the body would have a lesser immunity. This is because it is vital for the formation of collagen. Whenever a person has a cut or an injury it is the collagen that helps repair the damage and without sufficient Vitamin C this would be almost impossible. Collagen has a multitude of functions in the body, including keeping the organs in place, and it would not be able to do this without sufficient C vitamin levels.

C Vitamin is also serves as an antioxidant for the body and helps other vitamins and minerals to be absorbed better. Folic acid and iron, for example, need the Vitamin C to maximize their usefulness. The more of it in the body, the better its defense against colds and other common ailments. While Vitamin C may help prevent some common illnesses, it also is known to speed recovery or lessen the effects of one.

This “miracle” essential vitamin is found in many fruits and vegetables, thought some contain higher amounts than others. Cranberries and melons have high c vitamin content. In fact, tropical fruits have the highest amounts of all fruit. Surprisingly, hot peppers are amongst the richest sources of the Vitamin C when it comes to vegetables. The hotter the pepper, the higher its c vitamin content is. Unfortunately, the Vitamin C is water soluble so many vegetables lose their effectiveness as sources if they are boiled for a long time. Steaming or quick stir frying vegetables ensures that more of their vitamin content is retained. The recommended daily amount of the Vitamin C is easily obtained from eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day if they are consumed raw or cooked quickly.

Vitamin C supplements are extremely useful to ensure that people obtain sufficient levels when they cannot consume enough through eating natural foods. However, with a balanced diet the amount the body receives is likely to be sufficient. However, if a person begins feeling tired or lethargic then a c vitamin supplement will help overcome this. There is no danger of having too much c vitamin as the body simply excretes the excess. Vitamin C has also been shown to support function in weight lifters and athletes who are taking high amounts of supplementation to enhance performance.

The Importance Of Vitamins And Minerals

You hear a lot about vitamins and minerals, but do you have any idea if you are getting what you need? For the most part, you probably are. However, there are times when we don’t, and this direct us to a fascinating theory. My mom gave me a book she had read a while back, and it claimed that people who do not get enough vitamins and minerals each day not only get sick much easier, they also walk around with strange cravings.

I read the book and it got me thinking about a teacher I had in fifth grade. This guy was your typical teacher, even if he was not very energetic. Many times he would eat the chalk he had in the class room. I never considered there was be a reason why he did it even though we thought it was funny at the time. Could it have something to do with the quantity of vitamins and minerals in his diet? I am not sure, but this book told me it was. It’s a fascinating theory. Our bodies do crave vitamins and minerals we aren’t getting, but would it make us eat chalk?

So this might be the explanation why you demand certain foods. That’s definitely not as awful as eat chalk, but this could explain odd cravings, especially during pregnancy. Expecting women require more vitamins and minerals than anybody, and they need to be sure they get them. Do they have to ask for Italian dressing and hotdogs in the middle of the night if they aren’t getting the vitamins and minerals for themselves as well as what they need for their growing baby? I am not sure.

Read More About Homeopathic Remedies For Adhd.

ADD and ADHD are becoming more common in children and adults. Unfortunately, for the average person diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, the first course of action is a regimen of prescription drugs that often cover up the problem rather than correct it.

Some of these drugs are stimulants that can cause adverse behavioral reactions and most of them may not be needed. New studies show that remedies for ADD may be just as effective as prescription drugs and are much less likely to produce adverse effects.

So what kind of natural ADD/ADHD remedies are there? Of tested individuals who were diagnosed with one of these disorders, a large number showed a deficiency in key nutrients that a body needs to be healthy, including:

Amino Acids - There are many amino acids responsible for proper brain function and that promote neurotransmitter activity. ADD has been directly linked to neurotransmitter deficiencies in the brain, so essential amino acids are even more important in the natural treatment of ADD and ADHD.

Copper and Zinc - These are paired because these two compete for absorption in the body so a proper balance has to be maintained. Both are needed in trace amounts, and both are often found to be deficient in people who are noticeably inattentive in school and at work.

Magnesium - levels of Magnesium have been linked to a person’s distractibility…there are indications that a deficiency can cause someone to be distracted easily. Magnesium also plays a big role in sugar metabolism and gets depleted in the body whenever a person is under stress.

Iron - There may be a link between ADHD and iron deficiency. This is an especially important one to monitor in adult females, but deficiencies occur in both genders and all ages - in fact, an estimated 13% of all children ages 5-12 have a marked iron deficiency.

Calcium - A calcium deficiency often causes irritability and inattentiveness, among other things, which can lead to an ADD or ADHD diagnosis.

If you are interested in natural remedy for ADD and ADHD issues, the first place to start is a person’s diet. Avoid refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup and stimulants such as caffeine, but include plenty of dairy products or a non-dairy calcium supplement. A healthy diet will help ensure sufficient levels of many necessary nutrients, but likely not all of them.

Next, find a quality multi-vitamin that will provide many of the vitamins and trace minerals the body needs. Finally, even the best multi-vitamins may not have enough of nutrients that are deficient in people with ADD, so additional natural supplements may be needed.

There are several on the market including Listol, which contains many amino acids and other nutrients that have shown a likely link to ADD/ADHD and are often deficient in afflicted individuals; Synaptol, which includes ingredients that support mental clarity and improved brain function; and VAXA Attend, which contains essential vitamins and ingredients that have been shown to be effective against mental confusion.

Herbal remedies and dietary supplements of all kinds abound and these three are merely examples of some of the most popular and successful supplements on the market. The one that works best for you or your child will depend largely on exactly which deficiencies are present.

In short, a good diet of healthy food that is calcium-rich, a high-quality multivitamin and a good ADD/ADHD-specific supplement combine to produce what should be a very effective natural remedy for ADD and ADHD without having to resort to expensive and possibly harmful prescription drugs.
